Chocolate Nut Spread
In my house chocolate is almost like magic. It is the ingredient that will always get eaten. I recently was playing around trying come up with a nutritious and delicious chocolate nut spread. This is kid approved in my house; and with three critics it can be a tough crowd to please.
This recipe is loaded with antioxidants, healthy fats and much much more. It is great with seedy cracker and breads, for dipping in apples or just a finger dipping right into the jar (according to my youngest).
Some key ingredients are:
Raw Cacao rich in antioxidants. It contains magnesium and polyphenols which help to reduce inflammation and boost immune system. Raw cacao has a stronger flavour and more nutrients than roasted cocoa.
Coconut Oil is an anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and anti-bacterial oil. It supports the nervous system, hormones and balances blood sugar. It is a medium chain saturated fat making it easier for the body to digest, absorb and use.
Hazelnuts are a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, fibre and magnesium. Magnesium helps to regulate the body’s balance of calcium and potassium which is essential for blood pressure.
Soak and rinse the hazelnuts.
Place nuts along with remaining ingredients into a high speed blender.
Blend until smooth.
And Voila you have a delicious spread to enjoy.
