Energy Balls

These are a fav in our house. They are quick and easy to whip up. They are a great after-school or activity snack. Sometimes a great quick on the way out the door breakfast. They are loaded with fibre, healthy fats, protein and complex carbohydrates. The combination of fibre, protein, healthy fats and carbohydrates helps to release glucose into the blood stream slowly and which helps to provide sustained energy, support blood sugar and reduce cravings.

I like to mix up the ingredients. The base of oats, nut butter, honey and flaxseed is the same every time. From there I mix up the amounts and ingredients; coconut flakes, chia seeds, hemp heart, dried blueberries, chocolate chips, cocoa powder, etc. I can usually sneak in a few hard no’s of my daughter if I mask it with a little chocolate.

Have fun with them this recipe is super forgiving and always a crowd-pleaser for the young and slightly older!!

Oats: are a complex carbohydrate, high in protein and a great source of fibre

Flaxseed: are a great source of fibre. They are rich in calcium, magnesium, selenium, Vitamins C to name a few

Nut Butter: a healthy source of fat
